ASU Sun Devil Stadium

Sun Devil Stadium was built in various stages, beginning with the lower bowl in 1958 and concluding with the press box, which was added in 1988.

As a result of various factors, including the deterioration of structural components within the stadium, as well as competition from newer venues elsewhere in Valley, ASU launched an ambitious plan to replace the stadium with up-to-date features. Several new concepts were developed by Future Cities including versions that included a dramatic new shade structure.

On January 14, 2014, ASU officially announced the new stadium project left the shade canopy for a future phased, but included a Future Cities’ design for a $225 million reconstruction of all concourse levels, restrooms, concessions, new club levels, a north end zone plaza and scoreboard with existing grandstand structures wrapped in a fabric “scrim” to allow light projections. Estimated Completion: 2017
